A YELLOW AND RUSSET JADE SNUFF BOTTLE

Of rounded rectangular shape with an oval foot ring, short tubular neck and flat lip, the stone of a pale yellow color with large patches of russet skin, used to accent the lion mask and mock ring handles on the shoulders, and on one face carved to form the scene of an official reaching to replace his hat with one of higher office presented to him by an attendant, while another attendant holds a bird, the other side carved with a pavilion borne on clouds rising from the sea, as a crane with a tally in its beak flies by.
