A YELLOW JADE 'SCHOLAR AND PINE' PLAQUE, 18TH-19TH CENTURY
The plaque is finely carved to one side with a cartouche formed of two kui dragons depicting three scholars under a pine tree playing weiqi. The reverse is carved with a cartouche enclosing an excerpt from the poem 'Liu Shijiu Tong Su' by the Tang poet Bai Juyi (772-846 AD). The stone is of an even yellow tone.
