Three-dimensional bronze door knob in the form of a bacchant bust with grapes and vine leaves in his hair and gown, the animated face with opened mouth looking at the visitor. The iron assembly pin still existent. Fine age patina with traces of the original black lacquer. On an early 19th century base.The bust is a cheerful allusion to the Roman portrait type of the "imago clipeata" as it was used for rulers and other dignitaries. Height of the knob 15.7 cm, with base 26.7 cm.Condition: I - II
