A beautiful Chinese bronze sword hilt
A beautiful Chinese bronze sword hilt, Western Han Dynasty, 221 - 206 BC, with pyramidal pommel, the handle covered with raised spikes (possibly for inlay or to support leather), and ornate spiked hilt. The blade originally would have been made from iron, remnants of which are visible on one side. L: 8 in (20.3 cm). Nicely patinated. Ex Southern California estate, acquired mid-20th Century; Ex Los Angeles private collection.
