A big Chinese 'Dragons' quadrilobed porcelain bowl - NO RESERVE PRICE - Porcelain - China - 19th century

A big Chinese quadrilobed porcelain 'Dragons' bowl. China, mid 19th century, most probably Tongzhi (1861-1875, 同治) period. Rare model in excellent condition!

Finely potted in quadrilobed shape with a foliate rim, supported on the foot slightly expanding down. Painted to the exterior with two iron-red sinuous four-clawed dragons amidst deep blue clouds, each dragon depicted with bulging eyes, long horns and scaly body, its mouth wide opened showing ferocious fangs. Each chasing a sacred pearl in iron-red and gilt, surrounded by four iron red flames. All between narrow gilt bands. Band of bats in iron red under the top-rim. Edge gilt. Foot with swirls of green grass and blue flowers, line of white dots in upper part. Interior with small flowers and leaves. Inscribed to the base with apocryphal six-character iron red Yongzheng seal mark.

Dimensions: width – 18,1 cm; depth – 14,7 cm, height – 6,8 cm. Weight – 386 g.

Provenance: private collection, Brussels, Belgium.

Conditions report: bowl in excellent condition. Minor firing faults to include firing crack to the base. Gilding on top-rim partially worn. UV- and strong white light tested. Check pictures for details.
