Chondrites are stony meteorites made of silicates with some metallic elements. Also known as undifferentiated meteorites, these ferrous peridotites are the most abundant meteorites found on Earth since they represent about 80 to 90% of meteorites. Chondrites are also fragments of asteroids. Among the most famous include the meteorite Orgueil in France, Chelyabinsk in Russia or Allende in Mexico. Chondrites are so named because they contain chondres, small millimetric balls formed of olivine, hypersthene and plagioclase. The chondres, which come from the rapid solidification of tiny drops of silicate and slightly ferrous liquid, are found in a matrix of the same nature but containing grains of metal (iron, nickel . . .) . The chondrites comprise about 20 to 30% iron and 70 to 80% silicates. As members of the IMCA (International Association of Meteorite Collectors) , we guarantee the authenticity of all our pieces. (The certificate of authenticity will be delivered with the Meteorite)
