A biscuit porcelain bust of Napoleon as first consul
Depicting Napoleon facing slightly towards the left with his hair combed forward and wearing a pleated jabot. The high-necked collar of his uniform is decorated with a border of oak leaves and its six buttons with the "fasces" symbol of the Revolution. With incised marks on the reverse. The plinth lost. H 22 cm.
Attributed to Sèvres, c. 1800 - 1805, after a model by Louis Simon Boizot.
Around ten of these busts were created by the Sèvres manufactory director Alexandre Brachard (1775 - 1830). They depict Napoleon following his return from Egypt when he became First Consul after the coup of 18 Brumaire.
