A black lacquered and gilt Chinoiserie decorated bureau bookcase, early 18th century and later, probably Anglo-Dutch, 235cm high, 98cm wide, 51cm deep Provenance: From the Collection of the late Max Harari Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and use,The mirror panels to the doors are later, these have a smoked appearance overall but probably simulated greater age, The surface overall appears to have been refreshed, there are chips and losses revealing underlying composition, The cornice section appears to be largely a replacement, it is perhaps incorporating some original elements, the finials are later associated, This has been wired for electricity previously there is no bulb and all electrics would need to be tested before use in a domestic settingThe cupboard lining and writing surface are later, The handles appear to be later replacements, There are keys present but not to all locks, Old splits and cracks, including to the fall and the sides,There are some feet present but not attached at time of report, these are later in any case, the rear bracket feet are distressed and require attention,Old signs of wood worm to the rear panels and all along the runners, elements of the backboards are replacements and with later reinforcementThe interior shelves are later, the lock to the cupboard doors in recentPlease refer to additional images for visual reference to condition Condition Report Disclaimer
