A blue satin embroidered nine-dragon robe (jifu). Late 19th century

A embroidered blue satin nine-dragon robe, buttoned at the side, with nine dragon roundels amidst clouds and emblems, at the lower border rocks and emblems swimming in waves above lishui in sanlan, the dragons of couched and gold-wrapped paper threads, dragons above waves at the hoof-shaped sleeve borders. Lining of blue silk. Late 19th century.
