A bone-inlaid wooden 'alla certosina' chest with games board, Northern Italy, Venice, circa 1460-80

the body of rectangular form, inlaid with bone and woods (probably including boxwood, walnut and fruitwood) of varying colours with a games board set in the lid between two stylised foliate roundels, the front with geometric designs and stylised floral trees, hinged lid revealing a plain interior

46 by 109 by 39cm.

Condition Report:
The front with detailed design, the edges with losses to wood probably due to wood-worm, also similar losses to edges of lid and back of chest, further wear, the lid doesn't sit evenly, the bone discolored in certain areas and small panels missing in sections, several interior panels replaced and candle compartment removed, modern timber supports applied to the underside of the lid and the base, as viewed.
