A bronze figure of a seated Daoist deity

The figure with contemplative expression is shown seated on a rectangular seat raised on a shaped base, his hands hidden by his long sleeves and held to one side over a long robe covering chain-mail armour with finely incised detail of a dragon on a badge of rank, his hat tied on the crown over his bun with long ribbons hanging down over his shoulders, his chin, above his lips, and sideburn area are pierced for the addition of real hair beard, moustache and sideburn whiskers. Period: Qing. Height: 22 cm.

It is most unusual to find a bronze figure with details in real hair. This detail is most commonly found on Dehua porcelain figures.
