of domed circular form, the thick stiffened leather carved in relief throughout with inscriptions arranged within ornate foliate designs, remnants of pigment, four silver bosses, the interior with black lacquer paint, padded silk arm rest with two handles fastened on four hooks

Condition Report:
The shield slightly distorted with signs of wear including rubbing to relief carving and remnants of a reddish pigment, two drill holes to one edge, the silver bosses with some scratches and tarnishing, all consistent with age and use, the interior with some craquelure and scratches to lacquer, tears to the silk on padding, erosion to the hooks consistent with age and use, as viewed.
