A ceremonial fabric and silver headdress - Turkestan - late 19th century
Composed of a woven fabric embroidered with a central dome-shaped element embossed in geometric design and inset with 4 cabochon Carnelians and a metal rod in the centre followed by a round-shaped element with a dome. The perimeter is decorated with silver strands ending with ball-shaped bell pendants. The headdress perimeter is decorated with rectangular links decorated with organic cutout decoration and inset with an oval cabochon Carnelians and a row of strands each composed of a flat link inset with cabochon carnelian and followed by an arrowhead-shaped pendant. The front of the headdress is decorated with metal plaques embossed in flower and triangle designs.
