A ceremonial fabric and silver headdress - Turkestan - late 19th century

Composed of a woven fabric embroidered with metal plaques embossed in a flower design on top and various organic and geometric designs on the perimeter. A central dome-shaped element engraved in geometric design and a metal rod in center followed by a rosette-shaped element with a dome inset with turquoise and decorated with embossed teardrop-shaped pendants. The dome’s perimeter is decorated with strands composed of flat elongated links inset with red cabochon followed by teardrop-shaped embossed pendants alternating with ball-shaped bell pendants. Includes a long narrowing dorsal embellishment sewn to the headdress and made of woven fabric embroidered with metal plaques embossed in flower design.
