A ceremonial headdress with silver ornamentation - Turkestan - Late 19th century - early 20th century
Composed of a woven fabric embroidered with silver plaques embossed in various designs. A central dome-shaped silver element with a silver rod in the centre followed by a flower-shaped element with a dome decorated with embossed arrowhead-shaped pendants. The dome’s perimeter is decorated with chains followed by arrowhead-shaped embossed pendants alternating with bell pendants.
A massive engraved gilt silver element in front inset with a row of 5 oval carnelians in the centre and 16 red stones surrounding.
At the back a massive dorsal embellishment decorated with silver plaques and pendants and tassels ending with tasselled strands. Additional tassels ending with tasselled strands on each side.
Embroidered triangular elements hang on various points of the headdress.
