A choice Near Eastern bronze axe-head, c. 1000 - 700 BC, cast as a single piece, the shaft-hole with horizontal ridges, a horned goat on the back, rounded projection with and 'eye' on either side just above, the blade is moderately flared with rounded cutting edge. L: 6 1/4 in (15.9 cm). Beautiful surfaces. Ex Arthur Sackler collection.
