F." to upper board, apparently those of Luisa Fernanda de Bourbon-Orleans, watered silk endpapers, all edges gilt. 13 1/4 x 10 inches (34 x 26 cm); xvi, 67 pp., half-title, contains both engraved and type printed pages, with a publisher's prospectus for the book window-mounted to a rear flyleaf, laid in manuscript bibliographical description. Some rubbing and scuffing to boards, with spots of wear to spine and extremities, a stain to rear board, contents lightly foxed throughout, the ghost of a removed bookplate to front doublure, rippling to silk endpapers.

A signed copy of Manuel Garcia's (1805-1906) classic pedagogical treatise on the art of singing. Though Garcia began his career as a singer, he later focused his efforts on teaching and studying vocal anatomy. His students included Jenny Lind, Johanna Wagner (niece of Richard Wagner), Mathilde Marchesi, Julius Stockhausen, Henriette Nissen, Charles Bataille, Catherine Hayes, and Antoinette Sterling.
