the oviform vase with tapered foot, short neck and copper-gilt mounts, the royal blue ground worked in various coloured enamels in thicknesses of gilt brass and silver wire, with eight shaped panels alternately decorated on a mottled green ground with butterflies and chrysanthemums, bordered to the base and shoulder by stylised flower heads on a tea dust ground (chakinseki), the domed cover similarly decorated, chrysanthemum (kiku) finial, applied silver tablet signed Kyoto Namikawa (workshop of Namikawa Yasuyuki, 1845-1927)
