Lot details A collection of early to mid 20th Century ephemera, relating to the Gold Coast railway and Takoradi Harbour in Ghana, including: Military Report on the Gold Coast, Ashanti, and the Northern Territories, 1912, 2 vols; a non-continuous run of Reports on the Gold Mining Industry, printed for The Government of the Gold Coast, spanning from 1904-1938; The Gold Coast Government Railway Report of the General Manager, 1904-1913, 1915, and 1917; The Gold Coast Railways Administration Reports 1920-1933, 1935-1939, and 1947-1954; Gold Coast Staff List, 1952-53 and 1953-1954; Gold Coast Railway Working Time Tables; and various other reports and papers. Provenance: This lot comes from the estate of Eric ‘The Railway Man’ Lomax and his wife, Patricia ‘Patti’ Wallace Lomax. Eric Sutherland Lomax, born in Edinburgh, was a member of The Royal Corps of Signals during the Second World War and was stationed in Singapore until 1941, when his unit was captured by the Japanese army. Following the end of the war, Lomax stayed on in the army and joined the Colonial Service in Ghana until 1955. These documents are from Lomax’s collection of ephemera relating to the Gold Coast Railway in Ghana, including some from the time he was stationed there.Request a condition report
