Octagonal Damascus barrel with seven-groove rifled bore, dovetailed front sight and double folding rear sight of gilt bronze. The muzzle and breech decorated with ornaments inlaid in gold and signed "FELIX MEIER IN WIENN". Gold-lined vent hole. Richly engraved wheellock with set trigger and internal wheel. Lock plate with depiction of a deer hunt with horseman and dogs, the cock with two monsters. Full stock of beautifully grained walnut wood with carved tendrils and patch box. Engraved and fire-gilt bronze furniture, the openwork side plate with huntsman, dogs and deer. The escutcheon with princely coat of arms, the trigger guard numbered "2". Wooden ramrod with horn tip. Length 109 cm.
Felix Meier, Vienna, 1672 – 1739, of Wangen in the Allgäu region, became master in 1702 and was renowned for his Damascus barrels.
