A division one pearl with glass center button
1 Large 18th century scarce pearl with Eglomise glass center.
From the collection of the late Shirley Case of Missouri. This beautiful example from the 18th century shows us a nicely carved inner border of circulating radiating line design that frames a slightly domed reverse painted glass center in the French Eglomise style technique. Eglomise is a term meaning the reverse painted section is painted in gold/silver and with a fine needle they cut the desired design out and then painted the background black to create a mirror effect. This is a very fine example.
Issued: DIVISION 1=PRE 1918 AND DIVISION 3 IS AFTER 1918
Dimensions: SM=Less than 3/4", Medium=3/4" to 1 1/4". Large=1 1/4" and above, extra large=1 3/4" and above
