A division one pictorial tole button
1 Large 19th century high relief figure over a tole engraved base.
From the collection of the late Shirley Case of Missouri. Tole buttons are a breed of their own and are jot always lacquered as in tis case. The tole engraving on the base of this example sets off the high relief Scottish bagpiper who by the way is also finely detailed. The button is very heavy, very large and in fine condition.
