A façon de Venise tazza, late 16th or early 17th century
In very thin and fine soda metal, of plain circular form, the shallow tray raised on a spreading foot folded at the footrim, 22.2cm diam, 7.4cm high
A very similar tazza was sold by Bonhams on 26 November 2014, lot 71. The form is related to those from the Duke of Buckingham's Glasshouse discovered at Wentworth Woodhouse in Yorkshire. One from the Peter Tillou Collection was sold by Christie's in New York on 28 January 2010, lot 190 and is now in the Corning Museum of Glass (inv. no.2014.2.1) and another was sold by Christie's on 3 December 2013, lot 166. A further tazza was offered in these rooms 20 May 2015, lot 20.
