A fine Russian cavalry officer's sabre, possibly Tula, circa 1830/40The strongly curved, single-edged blade with a tapered, carp's tongue point and shallow fullers on both sides. Straight quillons in polished steel with screw-mounted crosspiece and finely chased floral embellishment. Screw-mounted grip scales in greenish horn, the iron grip frame also with chiselled floral décor. Associated iron scabbard, the two carrying straps with delicate chased and cut decorative tendrils on a background with remnants of the gold inlays. Length 93 cm.Condition: II +
