A fine William & Mary walnut oyster veneered and marquetry side table

A fine William & Mary walnut oyster veneered and marquetry side table, circa 1690, the rectangular sectionally inlaid top decorated with scrolling foliage, above a similarly decorated frieze drawer, on spirally turned legs, joined by a H-shaped stretcher centred with an oval marquetry terminal, on turned bun feet, 74cm high, 93cm wide, 67cm deep Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Old splits and chips. Of sympathetically cleaned/polished appearance. Old repaired split to top (see images). Some small veneer repairs to top (see images for extent). Evidence of old worm. Some neat old glued repairs to moulding at edge of top. Filler used to top in places (see images). Later supporting blocks and screws to interior of carcass. Spliced section of replacement timber to one foot. Section of replacement timber inset to underside of stretcher. Handles are later replacements but in period taste. One turned foot is a very well matched later replacement. Later drawer runners. Glue residue visible between boards to the bottom of the drawer.
