A fine gold and enamel mourning ring, circa 1761, of scrolled design, applied with black enamel, with various memento mori symbols in reserve including a skull, two pairs of scissors, a winged hourglass, a shovel and pickaxe, and a coffin, the interior inscribed 'Rt Hon: Lady Mary GregoryOb: 19 Jan 1761 aet 42', size L, stamped 18

Lady Mary Gregory was the youngest daughter of Henry Grey, Duke of Kent. Married to Rev. Dr. Gregory, Dean of Christchurch, Oxford, she is recorded to have passed away after a 'tedious illness' in the Bath Chronicle and Weekly Gazette, Thursday 15 January 1761.
