the domed skull decorated with large cartouches comprising gold damascened inscriptions, the cartouches surrounded by damascened scrolling arabesques, the rim with a narrow band with damascened cartouches containing engraved figures of animals and birds, with applied sliding nasal guard, plume holders, spike, and aventail, the applied elements with gold damascened decoration, the aventail missing sections

The gold overlay design in general good condition, on a weathered surface with patches of erosion, visible to interior of helmet also, most of chainmail missing, as viewed.
