Repairs to inner margin of first and last 2 leaves, some light staining, generally an attractive copy, with the H.P. Kraus label.
First edition of a fine illustrated Italian sixteenth-century work on fortification and military architecture. Gabriello Busca (circa. 1540-1619) had been in the service of the Duke of Savoy since 1570, and he was the first to discuss the proportions and functions of the different parts of a military front.
