A garnet set star brooch/pendant, c.1800,
possibly French with a foil-backed Dutch rose cut garnet, 8.2mm diameter, in a scalloped edge setting. A surround of ten foil-backed rose cut garnets, 3mm each, to radiating points of two rows of pear-shaped rose cut garnets, from 8.2 to 9.5mm, to an outer row of foil-backed rose cut garnet set points. Dome back settings with a concealed hook-style bale. Replacement revolver clasp. Tested as approximately 18ct gold. 46 x 45 x 18.5mm, 14.1g. Fitted case by 'Garrard & Co. Ltd., 1123 Regent Street, W1.'
