A gilt metal mounted cast iron firegrate

A gilt metal mounted cast iron firegrate, early 20th century, of rectangular section, the front with foliate cast bars and cast with fircone finials, with arched backplate, the openwork and beaded apron on gadrooned and fluted front legs, with straight rear legs, 61cm high, 50cm wide, 25cm deep

The firegrate bears the marks, knocks and scuffs overall commensurate with age and use. Particularly the interior of the grate and backplate show the marks and tarnishing consistent with exposure to fire. There are several cracks to the firebrick.
