A gold-damascened Indian shamshir and scabbard, circa 1800The curved, single-edged blade forged of fine wootz-Damascus. The iron hilt entirely covered in gold damascening with floral embellishment, in excellent condition. The finials of the quillons and the pommel in the shape of a horse's head, the eyes made of inset ruby cabochons. The wooden scabbard with a cover of red velvet (rubbed), the iron fittings with lavish gold inlays, two movable suspension rings. Length 101 cm.Condition: I - II
