England, a good unsigned late 18th century English mahogany table clock, on a molded base with gilt bracket feet, the door with gilt spandrels and flanking caryatid and floral pendant mounts, side frets with gilt masks and naturalistic ornament, and bell top with gilt handle and finials, composite dial with gilt spandrels, silvered roman numeral chapter ring, the arch with subsidiary strike/ silent, and an oil painting on copper below 12:00 featuring a landscape with cupid and a reclining nude, blued steel serpentine hands, and two train fusee movement with verge escapement and bob pendulum, striking the hours on a bell, the back plate engraved with Adamesque ornament.
Condition Report: case polished, veneer with checking and minor losses, case with splits visible from the inside, feet with minor bends, mounts and frets with minor dirt and verdigris, dial plate polished and chapter ring with losses to silver, painting with minor losses, the back of the dial with 1802 repair date and the back of the painting with another from "A. Saunders 5 Southampton Row 19/9/23", hands good, movement fairly clean, strike/ silent arbor spring with solder repair, back cock holes opened and steady pins removed, star wheel jumping at about 20 minutes past the hour, adjustment needed, running and striking, ACCESSORIES: Pendulum, Four Finials, Trim Piece, circa 1775
