A gray pottery jar with incised designs,
Probably Angangxi Culture, 5th - 4th millenium BC
或昂昂溪文化 刻紋灰陶罐

C-Link Research & Development Ltd, Hong Kong, thermoluminescence test no. 2237YF05, 1st June, 2010, shows the date range to be c. 2500-1000 B.C.
此拍品2010年6月1日經中科研發有限公司熱釋光測定,測試編號:2237YF05,斷代年份約西元前2500年-1000年。

h. 13.8 cm

Condition Report:
A hairline near the mouthrim (approx. 5cm long), few small flakes and nicks to the mouthrim, the largest approx. 1cm wide, a small triangle testing drill hole to the footrim, typical of this type and period.
口沿下一條5cm長衝線,口沿有小磕,最寬一處約1cm寬,圈足有一三角形測試鑽孔,屬此類時期作品典型狀況。

Catalogue Note:
Angangxi culture flourished in the middle reaches of Nenjiang River. Similar to other Neolithic Northern cultures, Angangxi pottery vessels are characteristically decorated with bold geometric patterns such as the elaborate incised design seen on the present jar. It is speculated that such geometric patterns are simplified representations of animals. On a closer look, the hatching-decorated forms on this jar vaguely recall the silhouettes of fish.
