A group of Indian embroidered cotton panels with inset mirrors
20th century
Five shisha mirror embroidery textiles including a large double-sided rectangular textile with a yellow front panel with a central mandala, animal motifs, and large mirrors and the reverse with geometric embroidered panels and applique borders (63.5" H x 45.5" W), together with a square panel with central pink embroidered panel and applique borders (43" x 43" approximately), a dark blue/indigo embroidered panel with mirrors and figural motifs (51.5" H x 26" W), a smaller panel with red silk embroidery and triangular borders (42" H x 15" W), and a large square floral embroidered textile with a central star motif with floral and shisha embroidery on a fine red twill ground with green borders (65" H x 73.5" W), 5 pieces

Provenance: The Collection of Walter and Nesta Spink, Ann Arbor, MI, by 1990
Condition Report: Four in overall good condition with dust accumulation, creasing and light wear commensurate with age and use. Scattered loose stitching and ravelled edges. Each with a few scattered losses to mirrors, and some with fractures. Scattered light stains. Red textile with fading to side A, and scattered small holes and losses to border strips. Yellow textile with several mirrors coming loose, and scattered holes and extensive losses to reverse fabric. Condition reports are offered as a courtesy and are typically published in Moran's catalogue or can be made available upon request. The absence of a condition report does not imply that an item is free from defects or restoration, nor does a reference to particular defects imply the absence of others. Buyers are responsible for determining to their own satisfaction the true nature and condition of any lot prior to bidding. Though buyers are not legally required to inspect lots prior to purchase, failure to do so may constitute a waiver of complaint that an item was not delivered in a condition equal to the existent condition at the auction.
