The subjects are: a bhishti filling his water-container from a skin carried by an ox; tailors embroidering cotton; a man driving a heavily-laden bullock; two men embroidering shoes; men operating a system for irrigation.
The two men embroidering shoes appear in a painting illustrated in J. P. Losty, Indian Life and People in the 19th Century: Company Paintings in the Tapi Collection, New Delhi 2019, p. 94, no. 17, one of a group of eight Patna paintings dated circa 1820-25.
