A group of four 17th century trefid spoons comprising: an example probably by Steven Venables, the terminal prick dot engraved 1699 and the reverse scratch engraved with initials, 18.9cm long; an example probably by Jeremy Johnson, the reverse of terminal scratch engraved with initials over previous initials, 19.4cm long; a damaged example with rubbed marks, maker's mark R(F?) over flowerhead in shield punch, the reverse of terminal scratch engraved ET, stem detached from bowl; and an example with maker's mark rubbed, the reverse of terminal prick dot dated '67 and initialled WB over MM, 17.9cm long; together with one trefid and one dog nose teaspoon, the latter with only maker's mark 'WI', the trefid teaspoon apparently unmarked, gross weight approx. 6.5oz (6) Provenance: The estate of the late designer, Anthony Powell
