A handsome Roman alabaster head of a youth
A handsome Roman alabaster head of a youth, 2nd - 3rd Century AD, perhaps Antinous, the lover of Hadrian, with nicely carved features and hair in tight locks which frame his face; a depression sits on the top of the head, seemingly for an attachment. 4 1/3 x 3 1/2 in (10.8 x 8.9 cm). A lovely piece, the depression to attach a headdress more of an Egyptian type of occurrence. Ex collection of Theodore Bachman, New York, acquired in the early to mid 1900's.
