A heavy Italian bullet-proof cuirass with gold painting, late 17th centuryThe original blackened, heavily ridged breastplate with turned flanges. A shot strike mark on the left side of the breast. The chinscales with swivelling hook-and-eye closures, belt clasps still preserved on the sides. A decorative strip with crowned serpents (the Sforza family?) and laurel branches delicately painted in gold. A row of fine lining holes around the edges. Matching backplate.
