A high comb engraved morion
dating: circa 1600 provenance: North Italy, Skull in two pieces, with high comb with roped border, brim with hemmed edge, a row of rivets at the base, provided with brass rosettes. All the surface finely engraved with bands and medallions with characters and floral motifs on a grained ground. No plume-holder. In patina. To be cleaned. Very scarce. These beautiful helmets only rarely appear on auction. Similar specimens are found almost exclusively in important private or museum collections, such as that of Stibbert in Florence or the Odescalchi collection. height 33 cm.
