A lacquered and gilded wood figure of a Bosatsu. 16th century
Seated in meditation on a separate two-part lotus, both hands in dhyana mudra, the high tiara displaying sun symbols. Tiny metal nails were used to attach jewellery to tiara and chest. With a gilt brownish lacquer coating, hidden under a thick patina.
