Meiji (1868-1912) or Taisho (1912-1926) era, early 20th century
The first formed as Daikoku's mallet with a gold hiramaki-e band on a silver mokume-nuri ground, both ends painted with a cintamani (wish-granting jewel) in iro-e hiramaki-e on a kinji ground; the two boxwood netsuke carved in the ittobori style, each incorporating the two-tone coloration of the wood, the eyes inlaid in dark wood, one of a plover, signed Sukenao, the other of a Daruma doll, signed Sukeyuki (3)
