A large Gothic silver gilt communion chalice
Round domed base with a Corpus Christi applique and finely pierced trelliswork supporting a two-part shaft engraved "ave maria / domin plena" in Gothic script and with a central tracery node, the six rotuli inscribed "ih es vs" in niello work. Unmarked save for a Prussian church silver mark of 1809. H 17.8 cm, weight 377 g.
Lower Saxony or Saxony-Anhalt, circa 1400.
