A large Ming kraak porcelain blue and white bowl

Ming dynasty, probably Wanli period (1573-1619), China

The inside showing Huang Tao P'o who, according to legend, introduced improved weaving techniques to China, the inner wall of the bowl and the outside decorated with panels showing figures in European-looking landscapes and florals.

D 36,1 cm, H ca 16 cm

Provenance: Glerum Auctioneers (30-05-1995), lot 625

A hairline crack and wear of the glaze, especially along the rim.The bowl slightly warped. No restoration.
