A large and important Berlin KPM porcelain box with 'weichmalerei' decor

Painted porcelain with gilt brass mountings and presumably original velvet upholstery lining. Modell 3117. Fired in two parts. Jewellery box formed as a chest of drawers richly decorated with scrolls, foliage and rocailles, the upper corners of the front with winged angels' heads. Painted with three flower still lifes in rocaille surrounds. The metal hinge with corresponding engraved decor inscribed in the centre "KOENIGL. PORZELLAN MANUFACTUR BERLIN". Blue sceptre mark with blue dash, red imperial orb mark, remnants of a gilder's mark. One rocaille in the back right corner chipped at the top, chips to the tips of the leaves at the lower left front and back right. H 30.5, W 52.5, D 25.5 cm.
