Up for auction is a rare and large-size cloisonne plate from Japan, late Edo period, dated around 1850–1860 Very attractive colours and gilded wiring and rim. Beautifully decorated backside. The work is attributed to KAJI TSUNEKICHI (Nagoya, 1803–1883) . The most important cloisonne master who reinvented the Japanese cloisonne tradition to a high level in the mid 19th century. In very good, undamaged condition. The cloisonne perfect. Some rubbing to the gilding due to age. Similar work of this artist can be found in the Victoria & Albert Museum London, The Topkapi museum Istanbul and the Bowes collection. Several other art pieces attributed to the artist were sold on international auctions. Diameter: 40 cm. This plate will be packed very well and shipped by registered postal service.
