A large pottery tripod ewer, Bronze Age, ealry 2nd Millenium BC 青銅器時代 陶盉
Property from the Ronald W. Longsdorf Collection | Ronald W. Longsdorf 收藏
A large pottery tripod ewer,
Bronze Age, ealry 2nd Millenium BC
青銅器時代 陶盉
h. 40.5 cm
Condition Report:
The ewer has some stabilised cracks, predominantly to the legs and the front lower side of the body; There middle section of the handle seems to have been lightly retouched; Some expected flakes to the edges and extremities consistent with its age and type.
可見些許裂痕,均被加固,尤其位於足部及前下半身處;長柄中間部分或有小補;口沿及邊沿處有正常磕碰。
Catalogue Note:
Characterised by an elongated body terminating in three tapering bulbous feet and applied with a striated strap handle, accentuated with impressed buttons – one above the feet on the front and a further pair on the top of the handle – the present ewer appears to be strikingly modern in design. It is, however, a classic form of the Bronze Age, which was carefully designed to emphasise its functionality.
