American Waltham Watch Co., Waltham, Mass., a late 19th century model 1888 "Royal" pocket watch, 16 size, 17 jewels, stem wind and set, adjusted, damascened nickel plate movement with lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance and Fogg tadpole regulator in a 14 karat, yellow gold, engine turned and engraved hunting case, arabic numeral, outer red five minute markers, single sunk white enamel dial with polychrome enamel bird of paradise surrounded by fruit and foliage, blued steel hands, serial #6167192, 97.1g TW
Condition Report: CASE: Shallow dent, front; Very fine scratches on outer surface of case; Very fine scratches on inner surface of case; A few fine case knife scratches on cuvette; Front cover extends just beyond 90 degrees when opened; Crown shell split; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: A few scratches; Flake at edge concealed by bezel, 5:30; Lines in surface probably resulting from the firing of the later image. HANDS: Replaced and with oxide. MOVEMENT PLATES: Very fine scratches on plate; A few more significant scratches at case screw; Winding wheels with minor oxide; Regulator assembly with a few specks of oxide; Specks of dirt. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks); Low amplitude, needs service; Crown very difficult to pull to setting position, circa 1895
