A late 19th century gold onyx and vari-cut diamond mourning brooch, with black enamel and split pearl surround.Length 5.2cms. 14.8gms.
Condition Report: Surface scratches and small dents.
Glazed compartment to the reverse.
Diamonds appear fairly bright and well matched.
Estimated total diamond weight 0.20ct.

Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

Onyx with minor pinhole nick near diamond panel.
Enamel chipped near split pearls.
Split pearls appear well matched.
Electronically tests as approximately 21ct gold, presumed gilt interference.
Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
