A late 19th century gold sapphire and old-cut diamond crescent moon brooch.Central sapphire calculated weight 0.60ct, based on estimated dimensions of 5.4 by 4.2 by 2.8mms.Estimated total diamond weight 0.70ct.Later Portuguese marks. Length 6.6cms. 5.3gms.
Condition Report: Surface scratches, minor marks and varied discolouration.Diamonds appear fairly bright and well matched.Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.Sapphires are a well matched bright deep medium blue.Electronically tests as approximately 13ct gold. Portuguese marks stamped 375.Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
