A late 19th century silver and gold, fire opal and diamond brooch. The oval fire opal cabochon, with old-cut diamond surround. Estimated total diamond weight 1.20cts. Length of brooch 2.6cms. Total weight 7.2gms. With fitted Garrard & Co. case. Purchasing information Overall condition good. Minor surface scratches/wear in keeping with general age and wear. Fire opal possibly replacement. Areas of repair / alteration to reverse setting, soft solder visible. Diamonds well matched. Diamonds bright.

Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

Some diamonds with slightly more tint of colour than others. Diamonds with scattered eye visible inclusions, few facets with minor nicks. Fire opal is a pale to medium orange hue, flashes predominantly in green, in good condition with minor surface scratches.
